ABOUT DR. GOOD
The Man Behind
the Mission
For over four decades, Dr. Phil Good has dedicated his life to the well-being of animals and the people who love them. From a small-town practice to leading one of Georgia’s most impactful rescue organizations, his journey is defined by compassion, resilience, and an unwavering belief that every life matters.

THE VETERINARIAN
A Career Built on Compassion
Dr. Phil Good’s path into veterinary medicine wasn’t just a career choice—it was a calling. Growing up surrounded by animals in rural Georgia, he developed an early understanding that the bond between humans and animals is one of life’s most profound connections. That understanding has guided every decision he’s made since.
After earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, Dr. Good founded Beyond Pets Animal Hospital in Marietta, Georgia, with a simple but radical premise: every animal that walks through the door—regardless of its owner’s ability to pay—deserves dignified, quality care. That philosophy has remained the cornerstone of his practice for over 35 years.
“Every animal that comes through our doors deserves the same quality of care I’d want for my own.”
But his impact extends far beyond the exam room. Witnessing firsthand the number of stray and abandoned animals in the Atlanta metro area, Dr. Good co-founded the Homeless Pets Foundation in 2000—a nonprofit that has since rescued and rehomed over 3,000 animals. What started as a small foster network has grown into one of Georgia’s most respected rescue organizations.

The measure of a veterinarian isn’t in the number of patients you see—it’s in the lives you change when no one is watching, when there’s nothing to gain, and when the only reward is knowing you did the right thing.
