The Homeless Pets Foundation reached a remarkable milestone this month — our 3,000th animal rescued and placed into a loving forever home. What started as a small community effort has grown into one of Georgia’s most impactful animal welfare organizations.
Dr. Phil Good, who founded HPF to address the overwhelming number of homeless pets in the metro Atlanta area, reflected on the journey: “Every single rescue represents a life saved and a family made whole. When we started, I never imagined we’d reach this number, but the need is real and our community has stepped up in extraordinary ways.”
The 3,000th rescue — a senior beagle mix named Maple — was found wandering near a busy highway in DeKalb County. After receiving veterinary care at Beyond Pets Animal Hospital, Maple was fostered by a volunteer family and adopted within two weeks. Her story is a testament to the network of volunteers, fosters, and donors who make HPF’s mission possible.
Looking ahead, HPF is expanding its spay/neuter outreach programs and partnering with local shelters to reduce intake numbers across the region. If you’d like to support the mission, visit homelesspetsfoundation.org to donate, foster, or volunteer.
