Community Spotlight: Volunteer Appreciation Day at HPF

Last Saturday, the Homeless Pets Foundation hosted its annual Volunteer Appreciation Day at Laurel Park in Marietta, bringing together over 200 of the dedicated individuals who make the foundation mission possible.

Under clear spring skies, volunteers who have fostered kittens through bottle-feeding stages, transported dogs from high-kill shelters, staffed adoption events on weekends, and provided everything from administrative support to emergency overnight care were recognized for their extraordinary contributions.

The event featured remarks from HPF board members, a photo gallery showcasing successful adoptions from the past year, and the presentation of the annual Golden Leash Award to Martha Chen, who fostered 47 animals over the past twelve months alone.

Our volunteers are the backbone of everything we do, Dr. Good told the gathering. Every hour they give translates directly into lives saved. There is no technology, no funding source, and no organizational strategy that can replace the simple power of a person who cares enough to show up.
